Bacon Rocks Wingless Short Track Nationals At Texarkana 67 Speedway

TEXARKANA, Ark. (September 7, 2024) Landing in Victory Lane for the second time in his career with the ASCS Elite Non-Wing Series presented by Abilene Powder Coating, and the 58th time with the USAC Amsoil Sprint Car National Championship, Brady Bacon fought tooth and nail through 40 laps Saturday night at the Wingless Short Track Nationals at Texarkana 67 Speedway.

Taking the green from the third position, the opening 18 laps were controlled by Kevin Thomas, Jr. Fighting through traffic, that allowed Kyle Cummins to get the run for the lead, with Bacon battling with Thomas for the runner-up spot.

Taking second from Thomas on Lap 28, slower traffic again played into the equation as Brady took over the point on Lap 35. Back-and-forth with Cummins, the pair raced wheel-to-wheel to the white flag. Railing top side as he had been doing into the first turn, the No. 3p suddenly biked into the wall and went over.

Two attempts at a green, white, checkered finish, the final run saw Bacon make all the right moves to hold off the No. 3r for the win. Restarting fifth, Logan Seavey shot top side to grab third on the final lap. Daison Pursley and Mitchel Moles completed the top five.

Kyle Jones was the highest finishing driver with the ASCS Elite Non-Wing Series presented by Abilene Powder Coating, and received first place points for his effort with the series, as well as an extra $200. Passing a total of 13 times on the night, Jones picked up $500 as the ProSource Passing Master. Jason Howell received $100 as the second highest finishing Elite driver.

The ASCS Elite Non-Wing Series presented by Abilene Powder Coating races again at Red Dirt Raceway with the USAC Amsoil Sprint Car National Championship on Friday, October 25, and Saturday, October 26.

The ASCS Elite Wing and Non-Wing Series is owned and operated by Nathan Moore and operates under the sanction of the American Sprint Car Series. Rules for both tours can be found on the ASCS website. Nathan can be reached at (903) 780-9934 or email elitenonwingsprints@gmail.com.
